I get you but not like the tv Jesus commercial.

I was raised a liberal Methodist., bought an Alan Watts book right after my mom died and now consider myself a Zen/Methodist.

Alan Watts is on YouTube, though now deceased and is very listenable.

I do relaxation breathing exercises if my mind won't calm down at bedtime.

One starts relax neck, then shoulders, breathing in holding the relax another body part, jus spine hips thighs, etc.

Thinking a mantra helps distract mind chatter.

I did a post last Dec or so on a simple Zen exercises.

Anyhow, be well.

If you're not familiar with Jeff Foster yet, then i can highly recommend looking into what he has to say, specifically with regard to meditation. Very VERY different kond of mediation (if yoy can even call it that) than TM and all other mediations techniques i know of. Judging by what you wrote here, i imagine it might be of interest and value to you (he mostly has amazing posts on facebook. And also here https://jefffosteronline.com/

For example, here's a post of him that he just published:

SPIRITUALITY…

is not something that you add to yourself. Even when you become a 'more spiritual person' you're still a person. And the ‘spiritual person’ mask is the ego's stickiest, trickiest, stinkiest manifestation of all.

Spirituality destroys the false self; it does not add to the false self. It deconstructs the image, smashes everything unreal, everything second hand, every object, every mind-made identity, everything that isn't really who you are. It leaves you naked and humbled and unaware of any finish line.

True spirituality cannot be taught and nobody owns life or has any privileged access to Truth, despite the ego's protests against this basic fact. True spirituality must be lived, lived with a total commitment to the living moment, lived to its fullest conclusion and then the living itself becomes an effortless teaching and a day-by-day learning; you're like a baby again.

I have lost everything now including the identity of the one who has lost everything and the false belief that there was anything to lose in the first place, and any shred of belief in myself as any kind of authority on life, and now there is only life, unfolding moment by moment... raw, pulsating, undeniable... rich, full, intimate... and the shock and awe of waking up each morning.

And here, instead of oblivion:

A new day, ready to be lived.

- Jeff Foster

PS. Jim Eaton (https://www.authenticliving.org.uk/) and Unmani Liza Hyde (https://www.die-to-love.com) are two others I'd recommend looking into. Like Jeff, they're also very very real, very wise, and very different than all so-called spiritual techniques out there

Aw HeartAndHeart, thank you so much. 'True spirituality must be lived, lived with a total commitment to the living moment, lived to its fullest conclusion and then the living itself becomes an effortless teaching and a day-by-day learning; you're like a baby again.' I really love this. x
